Mozambique Eyecare Project

DJ Blee Optical is a patron of the Irish Aid/Higher Education Authority funded, Mozambique Eyecare Project. The Project is a collaboration of multiple partners including Dublin Institution of Technology, the Brien Holden Vision Institute Foundation, Universidade Lurio, Mozambique and the University of Ulster. The Mozambique Eyecare Project aims to provide a sustainable solution to the problem of avoidable blindness through optometric education. The partners mentioned above have established Mozambique’s first Optometry Degree Programme.

Optometry Giving Sight

DJ Blee supports Optometry Giving Sight through its participation in the Confederation of Optical Suppliers. Optometry Giving Sight CHY19004 is a registered charity in Ireland. Optometry Giving Sight fundraises for Sustainable Optometry Education Programmes in the Developing World. Last year Optometry Giving Sight Ireland raised over €50,000 for the establishment of vision centres in Mozambique through the Mozambique Eyecare Project.    


Association of Optometrists Ireland

The Association of Optometrists Ireland is the professional representative body for the vast majority of practising optometrists in the country. Formerly known as ophthalmic opticians and commonly referred to as opticians, the official title in Irish law is now optometrist The Association, in conjunction with the Opticians Board, who are the statutory regulatory authority, provides a supervisory and ethical environment for all members. The purpose of this is to ensure the highest possible standards in provision of clinical and dispensing services to the public. Subscription to the Association’s Code of Ethics and Practice is mandatory for all members.

The Association has been in existence for over a hundred years, marking its Centenary in 2005 with a number of events including a reception at Aras an Uchtaran with President McAleese with a number of past-Presidents of the Association.

Confederation of Optical suppliers Ireland

COSI, which stands for the Confederation of Optical Suppliers Ireland, consists of 12 companies all based here in Ireland. Our main focus is supplying YOU the Independent Optical Practitioner. In total COSI employs almost 3000 people in Ireland. Over the past 10 years the confederation members have contributed over one hundred thousand euro in donations to the various Associations and Charities involved in the Optical Industry in Ireland.
